Outraged Friday, Jun 30 2006

I am so upset about the findings today in cycling. I am just going to post me and spasticrobots aim conversation.

spasticrobot: http://www.velonews.com/tour2006/news/articles/10182.0.html
spasticrobot: Valverde and Vino
spasticrobot: George is pulling 25/1 odds
spasticrobot: you should lay some money down
walteraverett: I am going to say cadel but I am a little drunk
spasticrobot: ha
spasticrobot: he has a good shot
spasticrobot: I’m saying Vlaverde officially
walteraverett: http://www.velonews.com/tour2006/news/articles/10184.0.html
spasticrobot: but I’m pulling for Disco and Flloyd as well
spasticrobot: yeah, I read that
spasticrobot: good old Johan
walteraverett: I am going Dicso
walteraverett: I have to
spasticrobot: they are still a long shot
spasticrobot: but could pull it off
walteraverett: I know, but the have a full dedicated team with no relation to scandel
walteraverett: http://sports.excite.com/news/06302006/v8317.html
walteraverett: “I have nothing to do with all this, but I will let my lawyers speak about this before me,” Basso told Italian television.

Only nine names were on an official UCI list, but Spanish media outlets printed a longer version that included 32 active riders and five retired riders.

“I am in shock. I could cry,” Ullrich told German television. “I have no contact with Fuentes. I don’t know him. I arrived at this Tour in perfect condition. I am completely depressed but I will fight with my lawyers.”
walteraverett: The decision to stop five Astaná-Würth riders could keep attacking Kazakh Alexandre Vinokourov out of the Tour.

Because only four riders remain - Vinokourov, Andrey Kashechkin, Carlos Barredo and Luis Leon Sanchez - Astaná-Würth would not meet the minimum requirement of six riders and the team might not be allowed to start. No decision was yet taken late Friday.
spasticrobot: oh shit, this is such a mess
walteraverett: it gets worse
spasticrobot: if Basso and Ullrich are innocent I will be pissed
spasticrobot: where are you reading this?
walteraverett: “I almost feel sorry for anyone who wins this Tour, because there will always be an asterisk next to it,” said CSC’s Christian Vande Velde
walteraverett: http://velonews.com/tour2006/details/articles/10185.0.html
walteraverett: “We’ve kept out of it. We’re not involved in any way and all we want to do is ride our bikes and race,” said Magnus Bäckstedt. “It’s just a shame for the sport that this is all happening again.”
walteraverett: I want to cry
spasticrobot: “I almost feel sorry for anyone who wins this Tour, because there will always be an asterisk next to it,”
spasticrobot: dude, this is not a good thing
spasticrobot: it’s really, really bad
walteraverett: that is why I sent that to you
walteraverett: I fell the same I felt when Johnny died
spasticrobot: I know, but this morning you were saying it will make the race more intersting but really it’s just going to make it kind of suck
walteraverett: I want clean guys to win
walteraverett: as much as I love drugs
spasticrobot: every rider will have anxiety about their future tomorrow
spasticrobot: it’s going to be a weird race full of weird, akward energy
walteraverett: I hope discovery takes charge just like always
walteraverett: proof that cheaters dont always win
walteraverett: http://www.velonews.com/tour2006/news/articles/10179.0.html
walteraverett: read this
walteraverett: vino isnt going to race you know
walteraverett: he doesnt have 5 required riders to compete
walteraverett: Also expect inspired rides from Hincapie’s former teammates Floyd Landis (Phonak-iShares) and Levi Leipheimer (Gerolsteiner), although the prologue’s 7.1km distance is somewhat on the short side for these two. Landis might not be able to make full use of his high-hands aero’ position on a course that has nine right-angle turns and just as many curving bends. As for Leipheimer, he showed his resolve by rolling into Strasbourg on Wednesday half a day ahead of his teammates so he could go training on his TT bike for two hours.

That’s the sort of focus and dedication needed to remain undistracted by the Operación Puerto doping frenzy - a frenzy that has put into question the validity of our beautiful sport just as the start of the Festina Affair did before the Tour’s Dublin prologue eight years ago.
spasticrobot: yeah, I rad that as well
walteraverett: I am going to go do a shot
spasticrobot: ha
spasticrobot: you are nuts
walteraverett: man my heart is broken right now.
walteraverett: I feel like a girlfriend just broke up with mw
spasticrobot: it really sucks
spasticrobot: I kind of want to change my breakfast tomorrow to a World Cup thing
walteraverett: whatever, we have to support the clean guys like george and vino
spasticrobot: and Valverde
spasticrobot: my new pick
walteraverett: that could be a good one
spasticrobot: if he stays healthy he could def. do it
walteraverett: I have to say cadel right now because of his ability to attack and change conditions
spasticrobot: yeah, he’s a badass
spasticrobot: and he has good support
walteraverett: jullich
walteraverett: you cant count that guy out
spasticrobot: True
walteraverett: he came in second in the tour befor eLance
spasticrobot: is he going to step up as CSC captain?
walteraverett: I dont know
walteraverett: I am excited about a clean tour
spasticrobot: man, Bjarn Riis must be fucking beside himself in grief and anger at Basso right now
spasticrobot: this sucks so bad
walteraverett: I know it is wrong whats happening but I would like to see a clean tour also
walteraverett: I love Jan
spasticrobot: I hate thinking about all of these guys that I have so much respect for in turmoil
walteraverett: And Basso but if they are dirty I want nothing to do with them
spasticrobot: right
spasticrobot: I know
walteraverett: Just liek Tyler
walteraverett: He is the one that really broke my heart
spasticrobot: Pantani, Hamilton, Heras, Basso, ullrich
walteraverett: I backed him up
spasticrobot: it needs to stop
spasticrobot: now
spasticrobot: fuck
walteraverett: I love Pantani
walteraverett: You know that
spasticrobot: that’s a list of men who could have made history
walteraverett: He is a true spirit
spasticrobot: totally
walteraverett: but he was dirty like the rest
spasticrobot: yep
spasticrobot: it’s a part of the cycling heritage that needs to go down
walteraverett: It is dis heartning when your cycling hero is a hero because of drugs
spasticrobot: I mean even Merckx was a doper
walteraverett: They all were
walteraverett: even lance
spasticrobot: I knwo, it’s fucked up
walteraverett: But it needs to end
spasticrobot: well, we think but don’t klnow that
spasticrobot: about LA
walteraverett: I want clean sports or
walteraverett: an xfl
walteraverett: I think Lance started in 99 somewhat dirty
walteraverett: but he has been clean since
walteraverett: there is noway he could dodge that much shit in the public eye
walteraverett: I think everyone knows he was dirty in 99
walteraverett: but what he did for cycling and cancer can push 99 under the rug
walteraverett: ya know
walteraverett: There is no doubt, that he is the best
walteraverett: Maybe the best ever
walteraverett: but the public eye is enough for wada or uci to even bend there rules
walteraverett: you understand buisiness
walteraverett: you would do the same for him
walteraverett: he means too much to the sport

The Niece, Over the Hedge and Food Wednesday, Jun 28 2006

My niece is spending the week with because she is taking classes at New Orleans Glassworks. It has been a nice change to have a teenager in the house since we live downtown we dont see many kids. I do realize now that I say the word FUCK alot. I have even tried to catch myself but it still slips out. Maybe this is why I feel so uncomfortable in Covington. It may be the amount of traditional families that live there. Me, Lara and Jenna went and saw Over the Hedge last night and all I can say is it is worth the $8 to see. I luaghed and was on the edge of my seat at parts. The animation is really nice too. I enjoy the direction that feature animation is going with the exception of cars. Although I have not seen Cars yet I dont look the feel of the animation from the previews. I am going to go see it so I can dislike the animation with some backing. We are cooking fools at the house these days. With all of the fish I have been catching and the newly found love of the breakfast we barely go out eat these days.

I need to quit reading the news Tuesday, Jun 27 2006

I read the news in the morning and everyday the future of this country looks more grim than the day before. I remember my grandfather had faith in this country and at least some respect in the government. Now, I think he would have lost some faith. I love my country and I want to be here but this is getting out of hand. It makes me wonder has it always been like this or am I just getting older and more in tune with the day to day happenings? Just a little bitter today.

mule

I have fished and fished to heal myself of the chaos of NOLA living these days. I am Cajun at heart and when times get rough I go fishing. I am deeply satisfied when I am on the water, its in my blood.

I have been working very hard lately. I am on a new venture and trying to overcome a learning curve. I am also planning a new DVD for landscapes and environments. Lara’s new job is keeping her very busy also but we have hit a nice rhythmn lately of waking up early, having breakfast, going to work and then hangin’ out in the evening. Getting up early and dealing with shit works well because after the work day is over the last thing I want to do is deal with house chores and such.
