Bourbon Street, computer seat and a cold bike ride. Monday, Feb 20 2006

Friday night was ugly and beautiful in so many ways. (and thats all I have to say about that)
I spent all Saturday night and Sunday night glued to my computer seat. We are hammering through the animation but I keep finding things that can be better. We will be finished soon. I am getting fried real fast.
Sunday morning I went on a hilly NS ride with Dave. Let me just say it was to the bone cold. I shivered inside. I am glad I went but I wish it could have been a warm sunny day.

Spillway, animation and Mardi Gras Thursday, Feb 16 2006

snake

This is the first thing we saw on the spillway trail less than 1/4 mile into it. I slammed on the brakes and motioned for everyone behind me to stop. It was under 40 degrees, so the snake must have washed up from the night before. He was so sluggish that I dont hink he could have struck. It must suck to be cold blooded. I have not seen a cotton-mouth that big since I was a kid. I am just glad it wasnt summer.

Dave and Chris were with me so I didnt mind trying a few of the obstacles. I went over my handle bar about 5 times before making the root climb. It is good to fall on a mountain bike. It makes you more confident in landing stuff.

kom

Dave ate the dirt good a few times. But the best one was caught on camera. Hahahahaha. He is scuh a good rider I like to see him fall a few times to know that he does.

kom

But of course he always ends up landing it.

puddin

I know it is bad to spread the puddin at any trail but this is a permanent trench so I took advantage of the rain. I love riding in mud. This was the first weekend I started to feel my fitness excel. It makes me want to ride more.
We are passed the halfway mark with the animation. I want it finished before Mardi Gras weekend. Wait, that 10 days away. No matter I will do it. It is coming out way better than I expected. It is almost as if our hands are guided.
I am ready for Mardi Gras. I need it, my soul needs it, my city needs it and Mardi Gras needs it.

Brooklyn Bike Gang members need a place to stay Thursday, Feb 16 2006

Brooklyn Bike Gang members need a place to stay for mardi gras weekend. If anybody has some room for 2 folks I am sure they would be very appreciative. Let me know and I will get you in contact.

I know, I know, so I lied… Friday, Feb 10 2006

I have been so busy that I am telling myself lies. “you will finish the 3rd scene tomorrow”, “these changes will be easy”, fuck that. Really animation is not that easy and with about 15 people doing a critique, you have to pick the advice you choose to take and the advice you just let pass by.
Here is what I said I would do the other day.
The spillway trail is awesome and now that Chris bought a mountain bike it gives me one more friend to put into my cycling schedule until their S.O. gets sick of me stealing their man to play bike racer. This is just another reason why having a bike chic for an S.O. is awesome. All Lala says is ” I wish I didnt have to work so I could go”.
Ok. The marathon in 3 words: Lack of preperation. We finished and we did pretty well considering the stress and work loads we have been dealing with. I learned a very important lesson at the race. Do not judge someones fitness by there appearence. We passed a lady at the last 1/4 mile that was easily a 100 ponds over weight. 100 pounds over weight and she finished 13 miles a second slower than me and Lara. Lara’s brother and friend finished 13 miles with a huge look of accomplishment. It was an awesome day. I was only sore for a couple of days and the 13 miles of running set of my metabolism to the point that I dropped 5 more pounds this week. That leaves me with 5 pounds to go for my perfect weight. I gained 18 pounds from Katrina. Too much beer and MREs will make anybody put on the weight.

I am too busy to post. Tuesday, Feb 7 2006

I am too busy with the animation to post right now but tomorrow I am taking off for the night. I will post on the following events tomorrow:

  • 3 laps @ the spillway
  • Mardi Gras Marathon
  • progress of animation
  • balancing health, work and goals in a broken city

Production meeting, getting ready for a half marathon. Thursday, Feb 2 2006

               9th

I had a production meeting on Tuesday afternoon. I have an entire extra scene with complex particle formations added with an extra week to do it. Talk about deadlines!!!
I am going to pick up the Lala brother and friend from the airport tomorrow to run the Mardi Gras Marathon on Sunday. Let me just say I am in no way prepared for this. I ran 2.5 miles 10 days ago and have done a good but of riding but 13 miles is alot.I am going to rely on my natural ability to run and the fitness I have from cycling. I am not going to injure myself to finish without walking though. If I need to walk than I will.
