Jonah, Dave, Chris and I showed up at Audobon Park to participate in the bike tour of New Orleans. About 50 people headed out a little after 8 a.m., then I got a flat around 8:10 a.m.. The pace was extremely slow and the streets are in bad contition and I mean way worse than pre-Katrina. So we had a lot of flat tire stops on top of the stops for Kenny’s commentary. So we were out there for 6 hours. The wind was blowing hard from the South and we hit some head wind that would knock you off your bike.

It was an adventure but it was also very depressing. The devastation is mind blowing and the loss of life becomes unconfortably real. There are not words to describe how it feels to ride through Chalmette and the lower 9th.

The ride made me think of what the reality of this city really is. I dont think I will ever feel safe from a hurricane in this city but I want there to be a plan in the works to make New Orleans ready for the next hurricane.
