Been gone. Tuesday, May 31 2005

I apologize for the lack of post. I was away for work. I am back and I am excited about new ideas and new work. I am also excited that Sean, Lara’s brother, is staying with us for a week. I am busy at work and busy at home but I do best when it is like this.
Lilah had her stitches removed today and Amby is learning to deal with Lilah better.
I am going to make a long post tonight about what has been going on. But until then I am just going to say “I am back”.

2 moms, lala, me and no puppies for Lilah Thursday, May 19 2005

Last night we had a wonderfull dinner at Mandina’s and then some yummies at Angelo Brocato’s. We then went to our house and watched Meet the Fockers. It was a great night and a nice way for our moms to meet.
This morning Lilah went to get her puppy box removed from Dr. Allen. Hope she does fine.
Off to see the Revenge of the Sith

Demos, Sith and java script Wednesday, May 18 2005

           DarthVador

I am working in emergency mode due to my demos being more complicated than usual. I am using three plug-ins and one of which uses a different authorization system. GP2 integrates photoshop into 3ds Max seamlessly. It uses one of the orthogonal viewports and allows the user to change/create textures and see the results in realtime on the 3d model.
Thanks to willcore sending me the The String Quartet’s Tribute to Slayer it is making my workflow move along in a melodic Slayer meets Bach sort of way.

My work day plans for tomorrow are as follows:

  • The Giro (this stage will seperate the men from the boys)
  • Go see Revenge of the Sith with my entire work place (we are all geeks)
  • Have drinks and talk about it after it is over

Sounds like a good day to me.
It always seems that when I have something important to do that something less important will seem more interesting. I am working with kick ass plugins right now and for whatever reason I decide that reading over some java script would be fun. WTF?

Bike plans, the Mom and my friends. Tuesday, May 17 2005

           coyote
I am working on a new bike design that I hope to have the first one finished by the end of the summer. I am really nerding out about this because I am creating something that I love. This city is made up of cyclist of all sorts such as delivery, commuters, hipster cowboys, racers and bar-hoppers. I am creating this design specifically to fit me. I want a bike that is simple in design, fast, built tough and my new love is styley safety. I am working through some different ideas and I grabbed some ideas from spasticrobots new ride.
Lala’s mom arrives today and so I am trying to figure out some fun, interesting activities that does not involve the bar scene. So far I have come up with Mandina’s, the Aquarium of the Americas, and maybe the wax museum. I am a little worried about her meeting the terror of Lilah, who is figuring out her athletic abilities.

This is a letter to my friends and loved ones:
I am very grateful that I have the love and trust of my friends and loved ones. I know that you have stood behind me through trying times and my lack of good judgement. I am here for any of you who may need me and I will return every good deed to anyone who may require it. I will not take any gesture, no matter how small, for granted. I will not forget who has been there.

Bikes, willcore and cleaning Monday, May 16 2005

Ok. I rode delivery this weekend with some added restaurants. Made a little more than usual but I spent it in Michaels on a new set of cranks. I hate bike noise more than anything and I have been putting up with this creak for months. Saturday I could no longer take it. I met up with Willcore to find the noise. We pulled the cranks off a noticed that the last person who pulled of my cranks put electical tape in there to conceal the noise. My cranks were worn out. I slapped so new ones on there with Will’s help and now I have a silent ride. Makes me happy.
Willcore also set up basshoss/chomps to post to LJ with just a click. Nice. So this is a public thanks to Willcore.
I spent yesterday cleaning house with the Sonny mom in preperation for the Lala mom. Stinky dogs, stinky chomps, Amby hair, Lilah chewings and just plain old NOLA funk has been removed. One little personal bitch is that our garbage can has been stolen. First the recycle bin and now the garbage can. I want to catch the weirdo who steals garbage cans. It just is not right.
After the house was clean I went to R bar for so good ol Giro action. It was a tt which not very exciting but I still got to see my cycling geek friends. Spasticrobot was there and damn he is not talking crap about getting into shape. He looks like a new man. Keep it up Spasticrobot because I want to see you in the peleton.

Ah, yes, ain’t that fresh? Sunday, May 15 2005

will. quite the genius.
can you tell who is writing this yet? ;)

ok sonny, this will post to LJ simultaneously now, just check the Synch Journal box, and set moods, music, etc. (optional)

I hope someone develops a good plugin that doesn’t bork the plugins page.

Elite class and sportsmanship Friday, May 13 2005

Wednesday’s crash in the Giro d’Italia was difficult to determine what the cause or whose fault it was. Paolo Betinni stepped up to the plate and admitted that he caused the accident. He also stated that he did not do it with bad intent. He claimed that it was an accident. He immediately walked up to Baden Cooke after the race to apologize, which Cooke declined. The sportsmanship in cycling is sketchy sometimes. But among the elite class such as Betinni, Beloki and Di luca you see a side of cycling that is more like Etiquette than simple sportsmanship. These are the guys that last in cycling.

Giro, done and preparing for the Lala mom Thursday, May 12 2005

         CRASH
This is the most exciting Grand Tour since the 2002 TDF. I am loving every second of it. Media Zone might have something to do with it. I can watch the Giro every day live on my desktop. Crashes, controversy and the passion that the Italians have for the sport makes it the best. Next Thursday will be the first real climbing stage. It will be blown apart.
Yesterday was my last day of mandatory classes. I am going to continue to go to the AA classes because I have made friends and it helps me keep a strong head on my shoulders. I have never been a group counseling type of guy but after these classes and some true self-evaluation I am accepting my humility and working for a more complete and rounded me. I know I have said this several times but when horrible things happen the outcome can be a revelation.
Next week we will have the Lala mom as a houseguest. She is just the cutest, sweetest little Mayan. I am excited. I hope she can handle the Wrath of Lilah.

True men dont kill coyotes. Monday, May 9 2005

           coyote
What a weekend! I did my time on Saturday to find a beautifull Coyote that had been caught in a suburban neighborhood. I was really worried that the shelter was going to put her to sleep. But they did not, instead she was released in a rural area of the North Shore. That made me soooo happy and also reminded of the Red Hot Chili Peppers song True Men Dont kill coyotes.
I met up with Dave and did a 40+ mile ride in the nicest weather La has to offer. I really was in love with riding my bike and pedaling around with a good friend.
Sunday me and Lara went to the North Shore to bring my Mom out for Mother Day. She got a blue healer puppy, a computer hook up and Sushi for M-day. It was relaxed and perfect.
I went to meet up with my cycling geek friends to watch The Giro and it has already shown suprises. I love the Grand Tours. It is the huge soap opera for me.
                 My Lala

Lara only has one week left and school and that means I will actually have my girlfriend back. Things seem to looking up in my world. Some ugly is leaving and the wonderfull is getting reinvented.

Lilah, Amby and Lara Friday, May 6 2005

                     RUN
Oh the pinch collar, what a wonderful tool. She was absolutely crazy this morning. I took a walk with all my Ladies this morning. It isn’t that often that NOLA weather is so nice. The last thing I wanted to do was come to work but I did. I am part of a flickr group for people with pitbulls it is only a few days old but the information that is posted on the forums is already very useful.
Lara has one week of school left and damn am I happy bout that. No more all night writing sessions or broken sleep and we might actually be able to go on a bike ride. Wooohooo.
