Breakfast, classes and more Lilah Wednesday, Apr 27 2005

         sheep
I woke up ealry this morning after having a productive night and cooked some breakfast. My class starts at 7 am so I was eating by 6:30 am. It was a wonderful way to get started. I am so used to being exausted all of the time that it was treat of sorts. I am getting into the routine of waking up early (before 7am) because I go to class every morning at 7am and I leave the house on saturday and Sunday at 6:30. After all of this is said and done I am not going to know what it means to sleep in.
Lilah is at the terror age. She is into everything and she needs to be supervised when ever she is loose. She has a love love for Lara’s treasured possessions. It is a wonder that Lara has kept her cool and has not murdered her. She has chewed a few items of mine but she has not ruined anything. Parlty I think it is because most of my stuff smells like funk. She is being very good about doing the potty thing outside. That I am really happy about. I am bring her to the vet on Friday before jazzfest to get her last shots and tags.

one down, almost two, crawfish and crabs Tuesday, Apr 26 2005

Now that one class is wrapped up and the second one will be done shortly I m starting to get a little free time. I am going to figure out a plan to utilize that extra time in a constructive way.

Sac-o-lait and Sportsmanship Monday, Apr 25 2005

Saturday we hit the Sac-o-lait in a big way. The front that came through must have put them into a frenzy because they were attacking like bass. We have not caught more than one or two fish since march. So we went expecting to relax and soak up the rare weather conditions. Well needless to say things changed from the first cast.
I have been following the Tour de Georgia since it started a week ago. Here is a re-cap:

That is an action of a true sportsman.

Soooo busy, poker and delivery. Tuesday, Apr 19 2005

I have so much going on right now that I am in a walking deliria. I kinda like going wide open sometimes but I have been going like this for a while and I have to continue till October. There are some goals that must be met. I am spending the beginning of the summer to get massive amounts of dental work done. I have studied some plans that seem to cut the cost by about 1/3. Then we are purchasing a car in October. We are going to put 1/2 down and finance the rest over a year. I have never owned a new car before and it will be nice to have. Hell I havent had a motor vehicle in over a year and Lara has not had one in 2.
My load will lighten up a little next week. I will be finished with all of my classes and I will have that out of the way. Lilah is also getting easier to manage. She only has accidents every once in a while. She doesnt do it because she thinks its cool anymore. We are going to have to get a pinch collar for her. Her head to neck ratio makes it impossible to use the Halti collar.
Sunday was poker night over at cassidy’s house. It was super fun. John, jeff, brad, cass and me put in for some poker chips and played till the winner took all. Ummm, that happened to be me. (ha ha ha)
Delivery on the bike is really beginning to work out for me. For a while I was having issues that were causing me not to make money but now that I am learning the ropes it is starting profit. The riding itself is benficial because it is the workout I do not have time for right now. I ride on the weekends but that is not enough.

Bruises, Brooks and bikes Thursday, Apr 14 2005

Ouch. My bruise is a painful knot of fury. Every step is a jolt of pain. I am doing a ride on Saturday and I hope it heals by then. I am in the middle of regaining my cycling base and I dont wat any set backs.
Dave is building up Lara’s Raleigh with Ultegra, Brooks Saddle and top brakes. It will basically have the same set-up as mine with the exception of the Ultegra upgrade. She is going to have one sweet machine. She has been riding the bike in this archaic configuration for months and it is going to be a world of comfort for her after the upgrade.
Jonah is going to go and purchase one sweet ass machine himself tomorrow. He is getting the Bianchi Milano. It is a retro urban cruiser that has some super sweet details. I am excited to have him join the nola bike gang.

class, work and letting go. Wednesday, Apr 13 2005

I made a list of goals of on New Years day and I keep it in my wallet. I look at it every so often to remind me what I need to accomplish. I looked at it today and I was very proud of what I have accomplished. I am stretched beyond my capacity and I have still made progress despite un forseen pitfalls.
I am chugging through these classes which is not hard it is just inconvenient. I am progressing at work and I am doing work not related to my job. I have not picked up the ciggys although the cigar thing is getting out of hand. I have been riding my bike more than I have in the last couple of years.
Letting go of the past has been relatively easy considering. I am dealing with issues as the come up and I am facing them. It has been a really tough new year so far but I know that I am working towards a solid foundation.

Bruised and wet evening, crazy trikes and a hole Tuesday, Apr 12 2005

While delivering last night in the rain, I got hit by a car in front of Muriels. I was getting off my bike and about to step up to the curb and she came around the corner and just ran into my front tire. It was pouring rain so it was already hectic. I seemed ok and so did the bike. She apologized and I just went about my buisiness. When I got home I realized my leg was really sore and sure enough I have a fatty bruise on my thigh. That is the second time I have been hit in the last 6 months. I hope I am caught up and dont get hit for a while. Rat Fink
Saturday me and Dave went on a bike ride. We went to Eanen. There is gas station in the entrance to town. Parked at that gas station was a crazy Rat Fink style trike. It was roughly welded together and had a huge v8 right behind the front wheel. The owner came out of the store and started it up. It roared andI am not normally a Motorcycle kind of guy but this beast was impressive.
This morning a scab where a piece of my face used to be fell off. It was the size of a small corn flake and left a nice hole. I am using mederma and hoping some flesh will grow back.

Fried sonny legs, Paris Roubaix and more strippers Monday, Apr 11 2005

CRASH
I rode 50+ miles this Saturday and I am toast. I struggled to get through the last 6 miles. I had to concentrate on every pedal stroke to make my legs work. We kept a blistering pace for most of the day and flew through a mile and half of gravel. I was playing adult make-believe that I was racing the Paris Roubaix. On Sunday several friends met at the R bar to watch what had to be one of the best televised races ever. Hincapie rode like a true pro but just did not have the kick left to get around Boonen. He is the first American to podium at the Paris Roubaix.
I did the delivery thingy last night and made some pretty $$$. I saw so many stripper-boobs that I am now immune to them. I walk up to the dancer and with-out even glancing at her tits I say “ummm its $14.67″.

Hell of the North Thursday, Apr 7 2005

My favorite race of the season is Sunday morning. This race is my favorite because it is the cycling machine that is going to win the race. It does not cater to the climbers or sprinters nor the TT specialist. It is a race for the complete endurance cyclist. It is littered with cobbles that would bounce a pure climber to death. It has a long history of bad weather conditions. I will post more tomorrow on the Hell of the North.

Wound, Images and stayin’ dry Wednesday, Apr 6 2005

My spider bite is beginning to heal. Let me tell you I am happy about that. It was like a ever-growing wound. I didnt know when it would stop. I have a small hole on the side of my nose and a little swelling, but that is nothing compared to what it was. I am glad that I never take antibiotics because when you do need them and you have not built up an immunity to them, they work real good.

Here are some images of the past week:

I really love a good New Orleans rain in the spring. I could hear it pounding on the tin roof in the wash room. The plants in the back yard, both old and new, got much needed rain watering.
